Marking

Well the photo-a-day wasn't terribly successful, was it!

Honestly? I seem to have lost all enthusiasm for blogging. Both writing and reading other blogs.

It might just be because my shops, and making things, have completely taken over my life and there isn't enough time to do more than stay on top of the essentials. Some days we eat bread and jam for supper as I am too tired to cook. Some days I don't make the bed. There is a mountain of clean laundry waiting to be sorted. I barely manage to throw the dirty stuff into the machine and then hang it out. The house needs a thorough clean. I need to look after myself too, and eat better and exercise. And make time to do fun stuff and relax. I need to prioritise better.

I keep asking myself how women who work at full-time, out-of-the-home jobs manage to stay on top of everything. Raise kids, and keep husbands happy, and the house in order and everyone well-fed, and have a social life, and look after their parents and find time to read books and...  and... and....not go insane?

Of course, it might just be that blogging and me have had our day and it's time to do other stuff.

I don't know whether to stay or whether to go or whether to stay and blog differently.

I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.

Hah! It's not like this is a critical issue either. It's a blog. C'est tout. Nothing more, nothing less.

So I think the best thing for now is to totally step back from my blog for a little while longer and reassess what I really want to do with it - it's so directionless and has been for a while.

I am sure I will be back at some point - even if it's just to shut things down permanently.

Do take care.

Au revoir!

Umbrella

Most evenings, we go for a walk along the promenade. The other day we saw an old London Evening Standard umbrella propped up against a bin. My Other Half has a nostalgic penchant for stuff like that.

It came home with us.

We used it when we had a BBQ for some peeps. And discovered why it had been chucked out.

The lock was a bit dicky and in the middle of the afternoon, the umbrella slid down onto unsuspecting heads. Quite funny at the time.

We have repaired it - sort of.

Ananas

I tried lime juice on pineapple today. Martin saw it on a vlog. It is sensational. Pineapple never ever tasted so damn good.

I don't eat starch or sugar and almost no dairy. Mais non. Except on Saturday night.  (OK and uber-super special occasions.)

August 1

I know I won't have much time to give my blog this month - school hols, and still working through it and gearing up making stock for the Christmas rush as well as doing the orders that come in -  and yet I really don't want to totally neglect it - I like blogging.

So, following Maggie's example, I am going to try and do a photo a day for the month of August. Maybe one picture, maybe two. (At the most.) Maybe with some words, maybe with none.

Two today because I forgot yesterday.

Martin went to buy some mozzarella at Sainsburys. He came home with mozzarella and roses. Lovely man.

I'm going to be opening a new shop, selling vintage (who isn't, these days?). I found all this yesterday morning, in a nearby town. I went there to buy foam padding for the iPad and Macbook covers.
